I love to be a “good Nigerian” obeying traffic rules, not driving without a valid license and obeying police instructions, just because I don’t want to give any law enforcement official any reason to be harassed and we all know the mental stress you go through if you are taken to their offices.
So on this fateful day, I stepped out briefly to get my girl from school. I have this habit when stopped by Police, VIO or Road Safety. I keep up a tough face while ignoring their pleasantries and rudely handover my car papers, while telling myself after all my papers are complete, I even went through the stress of getting a tinted glass permit just to spite these officers.
So back to this day, I was stopped by a VIO, then I put on my usual stunt with a stern face and all!!!!
OMG, you should have seen the look on my face when the officer told me ….”Madam your car papers are not here!!!!!”
I looked at him like, “what is this one saying” but on a second thought, I collected the papers just so I could have the last laugh but it was not to be so. Unknown to me, my husband took out my papers during a recent paint job and had not returned them. I had to adjust well, changed my countenance and tried to be nice but……
I guess I had God with me that day, cos the VIO had a good network to check their database and found my car registration was still valid.
Moral of the story:
Be Humble and smile to the people you meet just trying to do their jobs!!!!!
